Postdoctoral fellowship at the OCD & Anxiety Program of Southern California
Description: The OCD & Anxiety Program of Southern California offers a one- year, full-time postdoctoral fellowship in intensive cognitive behavior therapy for OCD and Anxiety Disorders. This postdoctoral fellowship is unique in that there is tremendous potential for growth. Our program opened its doors in November 2016 and is modeled after our sister program, the Houston OCD Program (houstonocdprogram.org). We are currently accepting applications for the 2018 to 2019 training year.
The OCD and Anxiety Program is an intensive specialty Cognitive Behavior Therapy focused program. Currently, we offer two levels of care: Outpatient services for children, adolescents, and adults, and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for both adults and adolescents. We are currently in the process of developing an adult residential program, which we hope to have up and running Summer/Fall 2018. We specialize in providing evidence-based treatments for the following diagnoses: Obsessive Compulsive and Related Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Hoarding Disorder and Depression. We use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, specifically Exposure and Response Prevention, which is the gold standard treatment for OCD and anxiety disorders.
The trainee’s responsibility as a Behavior Therapist includes assessing patient’s symptoms and planning and implementing individual cognitive behavioral therapy for outpatients, IOP patients and residential patients. The Behavior Therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning, and leading behavior therapy groups, psychotherapy groups, and therapeutic activity programs; designing, coordinating and managing assigned patients’ treatment programs; and collaborating with the residential counselors as they support patients in implementing the treatment plan. We also expect trainees to take an active role in improving our therapeutic services and facilitating our marketing efforts. Further, the postdoctoral fellow is encouraged to participate and present in at least one national conference. The national conferences that the OCD & Anxiety Program encourages are Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) and International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) national conferences.
Start date: Flexible, but no later than first week of September of the training year.
Benefits: Salary is competitive, vacation, and sick leave. Funding is available for the fellow to attend at least one professional conference.
