Sharp Mesa Vista Postdoctoral Fellowship COG/DBT-IOP
Description: The COG/DBT-IOP postdoctoral fellowship is a year long training experience that includes two 6-month rotations; 6 months in COG-IOP and 6 months in DBT-Informed IOP. The COG-IOP includes group therapy with adults presenting with a range of mood and personality disorders. In addition to doing daily group therapy, the fellow responsibilities include: leading psychoeducational sessions several times per week to program patients, conducting intake evaluations, management of a caseload of approximately 10 patients, conduct insurance reviews, completion of necessary treatment planning and discharge paperwork for patients. The COG-IOP utilizes treatments protocols based in CBT theory, Interpersonal Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and other empirically supported treatments. The DBT-Informed IOP includes daily skills training sessions, individual therapy sessions, intake evaluations, conducting utilization reviews, management of a caseload of approximately 6 patients, and all relevant charting (i.e. treatment planning and discharge paperwork).
Supervision includes weekly individual therapy, group supervision, supervision of an intern/practicum student, and weekly treatment team meetings. Diversity seminars are held once monthly.

Submission Instructions
Anticipated dissertation defense and completion of all other graduation requirements prior to start of fellowship (to be confirmed in letter of recommendation).
Graduate program and internship training must be APA accredited.
Applicants' training, experience and interests should reflect an interest in specialty area addressed in the fellowship position for which they apply (e.g., CBT/DBT).
Cover letter, CV, and letter(s) of recommendation document that applicant has receive supervision and training in the use of CBT theory and techniques, has achieved foundational mastery and is capable of independently applying theory and technique at a level appropriate for a postdoctoral fellow receiving advanced specialty training in CBT.
Qualities we look for in a fellow are: self-motivation, team orientation, strong communication (oral and written) and leadership skills, flexibility/adaptability, solid foundation in evidence-based practice and theory related to specialty focus of fellowship, training and professional goals are a match with program, interest in recovery model and person-centered care, demonstrated commitment to clinical practice informed by research and/or a research rooted in a deep understanding of clinical and health care system realities.

- Three letters of recommendation emailed directly from supervisor(s) with applicant’s name in the subject line.
- One letter must be from dissertation chair or graduate school training director confirming that
applicant has met all requirements for graduation and will have defended dissertation no later than July 31, 2016.
- Two letters from clinical supervisors at least one of whom has directly supervised applicant in the use of CBT theory and techniques and can confirm that the applicant has achieved basic competence and is prepared for advanced specialty training in CBT. Letters should speak to the type of supervision provided (e.g., audio, video, live supervision, co-therapy, etc.)
- Cover letter that describes how your training goals and previous experience align with the training opportunities at Sharp HealthCare as well as the Eligibility Requirements described above.

- Lastly, we ask that you or your Internship Training Director email a PDF of the full APPI you submitted for internship. This document can be downloaded, by your internship training director, from the APPIC selection portal using LAST YEAR’s link (or the link that corresponds to the year you applied to internship). The PDF should include your APPIC application, letters of reference, and essays.
- Occasionally we receive applications from individuals who have been subject to remediation or probation at some time during their graduate school or internship training. Although prior remediation or probation will by no means prevent an applicant from being invited to interview or offered a fellowship, a history of formal remediation/probation MUST be noted and addressed in the applicant’s cover letter and at least one letter of recommendation.
Candidates will need to be cleared by our Human resources Department (e.g., pass criminal background check and a pre-employment physical) before employment is formally offered.
