2023 APPIC Match Statistics - Phase II

This report provides statistics and information about Phase II of the 2023 APPIC Match and the submission of applications via the AAPI service in Phase II. Additional statistics may be found in the report of the combined results for Phases I and II of the 2023 APPIC Match.
A total of 366 applicants matched to internship positions in Phase II, while 93 remained unmatched and 177 withdrew or did not submit rankings. A total of 313 positions remained unfilled at the conclusion of Phase II, with 163 (52%) located in accredited programs.
As compared to last year, there was a decrease in the number of students who were registered for and eligible to participate in Phase II (636 vs. 653 last year, down 3%) and an increase in the number of positions available in Phase II (679 vs. 549 last year, up 24%).
On average, students submitted 5% fewer applications in Phase II (12.3 vs. 12.9 last year), while sites received 23% fewer applications (23.3 vs 30.3 last year).
