UPDATE - 3/16/2020

APPIC Conference Registrants and Membership,

We are grateful for your patience and understanding with this ever evolving COVID-19 health crisis.  The planning committee has been monitoring the situation and regretfully has come to a decision to postpone the conference to support the safety and wellbeing of our membership in accordance with CDC guidelines https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/large-events/mass-gatherings-ready-for-covid-19.html

The conference planning committee explored virtual conference options and agreed that the in person professional networking is an important component of our conference.  Therefore, we will not be offering a virtual conference; rather, it is our hope that we reschedule the conference for Spring 2022.  Dates and location are TBD and will be announced later this year.

APA has cancelled both the Self-Study and Site Visit Workshops.

For those of you with guestroom reservations at the Westin Gaslamp San Diego Hotel for the original conference dates April 29-May 2, 2020:

The Westin Gaslamp has cancelled the APPIC room block, which automatically cancels all reservations booked for the conference.  Cancellation emails were sent to all guests who had associated an email address with the reservations.  Reservations made via the master account rooming list have also been cancelled.  Guests who booked in the APPIC block by phone and/or did not provide an email address should call the Westin Gaslamp at 619-239-2200 or contact me backchannel for confirmation of the reservation cancellation.  At this point there should be no need for further action from guests unless they booked their stay outside of the group block (ex. booked through Expedia or Travelocity.)  In such cases the cancellation needs to be done by the guest. .

Conference registration refunds will be available and the $25 administrative fee will be waived.  Conference registration by credit card will automatically be fully refunded to the original card as quickly as possible.  Registrations submitted by check will be refunded as well.  In order to process your registration by check, please email APPIC Central Office at appic@appic.org with the following information: the name on the check (personal name, name of university, or name of the training site and address and/or check number). Refunds by check may take a little longer and APPIC appreciates your patience. We expect all refunds to be processed by the end of April.

If you have already purchased flights or made other travel arrangements to attend the convention, please contact the airline or travel vendor as soon as possible. Many airlines and travel vendors have been understanding of cancellations due to COVID-19.

For time-sensitive conference presentation material such as the upcoming AAPI revision, we will be disseminating webinars in the coming months to assist internship training directors, doctoral students, and directors of clinical training in understanding what to expect as we convert the AAPI to our new digital platform.

You may have additional questions not captured in the information above. Please email me with your questions and know that I am receiving a large volume of emails and I may not be able to respond quickly.

Like many of you, your APPIC Board colleagues are working diligently to thoughtfully and carefully navigate this unprecedented time. We hope you are finding support in your personal and professional roles.

In good health,

Mary Mendoza-Newman, Ph.D.
2020 Conference Chair
