Stanford University Medical Center Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine Pediatric Pain Psychology Fellowship
Description: This unique 50% research and 50% clinical fellowship offers training opportunities in outpatient service focusing on evaluation and treatment of chronic pain (assessment, individual, group, and family therapy), manual-based interdisciplinary outpatient intervention for youth with chronic pain and pain-related fear, and cutting edge research opportunities within the pain clinic and the Biobehavioral Pediatric Pain (BPP) Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Laura Simons.
Current research opportunities include the effectiveness of treatment on child and family functioning, the role of psychological factors on treatment efficacy utilizing the Pediatric-Collaborative Health Outcomes Information Registry (Peds-CHOIR), and several projects within the BPP lab. There is an opportunity to develop and complete independent research projects. Fellow will also have support to participate in national conferences. Specific research training in grant writing, manuscript preparation, data analysis, and mentoring/supervision will be provided.
The position is one-year, from September 1st, 2017 to September 7th, 2018. The option for a second year is available with consideration of matching fellow/program interests. Candidates with previous clinical and research experiences in pediatric behavioral medicine specific to pain medicine is encouraged. Deadline for submission: May 15th 2017.
All applicants must: have attended APA or CPA-accredited graduate programs in clinical or health psychology (pediatric behavioral medicine); completed APA or CPA-accredited internship and completed all requirements for their Ph.D. prior to beginning their appointment.
