Moorpark College Student Health Center
Description: Moorpark College Student Health Services offers generalist post-doctoral training in college mental health within a community college health center setting. Fellows will receive supervision according to the State of California Board of Psychology guidelines and can earn 1,500 hours of SPE. Community college students tend to be more diverse than those at universities with regard to age, life circumstance, range of presenting problems and degree of acuity. The experience and training here develops generalist skills applicable to college counseling and psychological services, community clinics, and private practice settings. Our postdocs provide a substantial portion of our mental health services; their responsibilities include short-term therapy, crisis intervention, outreach, and consultation services. While individual therapy occupies the majority of the postdoc’s day, outreach is an important part of the service. To date, postdocs have run mindfulness workshops, DACA and immigration-related support groups, stress management workshops, trauma-focused groups, anxiety reduction groups, and prevention programs for at-risk populations, e.g., veterans and nursing students, and lectured in classrooms. For more information, see the posting at universitycounselingjobs.com (search 'moorpark').
