Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship Program - VA Long Beach Healthcare System

Description: The VA Long Beach Healthcare System's Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship Program is a generalist clinical psychology training program with seven Special Emphasis areas: 1) Advanced Interprofessional Mental Health Education Program (2 positions), 2) Liver Disease and Human Immunodeficiency (HIV), 3) Neuropsychology (two-year position; recruitment occurs every other year with next recruitment in 2017 for 2018-2010 academic years), 4) Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, 5) Psychosocial Recovery (PSR) for Severe Mental Illness, 6) Rehabilitation Psychology (two-year position), and 7) Women’s Mental Health Center. Our training model is scientist-practitioner, with the theoretical orientations of the postdoctoral staff including a range from Cognitive Behavioral to psychodynamic approaches. The program was started in 2008 and we are currently training our 9th cohort of fellows. The program underwent a site visit by the Commission on Accreditation in May 2012 and received accreditation in November 2012. The next site visit will be in 2019.
