Saint Elizabeths Hospital, Clinical Psychology Post-Doctoral Residency
Description: Saint Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, DC, is a publically funded inpatient psychiatric hospital, with approximately 300 beds distributed among 11 forensic and civil units. Our clinical psychology post-doctoral residency program offers the opportunity to obtain training in working with a chronically and severely mentally ill urban minority population in a public mental health setting. We offer two tracks, including the General Inpatient track and the Forensic track. The currently available position may be for either track. The residency is a twelve-month (2,000 hour), full-time experience beginning on or about September 1st of each year and ending on or about August 30th of the following year, depending on correspondence with government pay period. The residency program offers an array of training experiences including individual and group psychotherapy, psychological assessment, consultation, multidisciplinary treatment planning, teaching, case presentations, clinical supervision, and seminars. In addition, residents will receive experience and training in the provision of therapy and assessment supervision of psychology externs. It is the philosophy of the training staff that the residency program should encourage acquisition of specialty skills within the practice of psychology while maintaining generalist clinical skills. The type of direct clinical services which residents provide varies slightly depending upon the clinical track and interests of the residents.
