2003 CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
ANNOUNCING THREE APPIC AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE
IN TRAINING
(1) APPIC AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN INTERNSHIP TRAINING
(2) APPIC AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN POSTDOCTORAL TRAINING
(3) APPIC AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN DIVERSITY TRAINING
The APPIC Board of Directors announces the creation of a family
of three annual Awards for Training Excellence. The three Awards
provide recognition of distinguished achievement in training and
teaching in APPIC Member internship and postdoctoral training
settings. Outstanding accomplishment may be recognized in any
one of three areas: internship training, postdoctoral training,
or diversity training.
Nominees for one of the three APPIC Training Excellence Awards
should be outstanding individual psychologists who demonstrate:
[1] a history of excellence in innovative training & teaching
in APPIC member internship and postdoctoral training programs,
and/or [2] a history of administrative activities that support
and advance innovative training and teaching in APPIC member programs.
Nominees must work at an APPIC Member training site. Any individual
who makes outstanding contributions to training is eligible. Nominees
do not have to be a Training Director. Any individual or group
can submit nominations, but the nominator(s) must be faculty,
staff member, administrator, Training Director, or trainee at
an APPIC Member Internship or Postdoctoral training program. Self-nominations
are not permitted.
Nominations should be in the form of a letter no more than two
pages in length. The nominating statement must in the first sentence
clearly specify the specific training award for which recognition
is sought, whether in: [1] internship training, [2] postdoctoral
training, or [3] diversity training. The nomination letter must
provide the reasons and concise details in support of the nomination.
Letters that request recognition for more than one award will
not be honored.
The nominating statement should be sent in the body of an e-mail
message or as an e-mail attachment. Nominators should inform the
nominee that his or her name is being submitted. An electronic
copy of the nominee's CV must also be submitted, and should be
sent as an e-mail attachment. The APPIC Training Awards Committee
will review the nominations and then make recommendations to the
APPIC Board of Directors. The Board of Directors makes the final
decisions.
Faculty, staff members, administrators, or trainees at APPIC
member sites are encouraged to submit nominations as soon as possible.
The deadline for receipt of nominations (including CV) is July
15, 2003. The three awards will be presented at the APPIC Business
Meeting to be held in Toronto on August 7, 2003, 8:00 - 9:50 a.m.,
at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Caledon Room. Each winner will receive
a plaque, a check for $500, and an award citation to be published
in the APPIC Newsletter. Each winner also will be invited to make
a presentation at APPIC's 2005 Membership Conference.
E-mail nominating messages and nominees' CV's should be sent
to Gerald Leventhal, Chair of the 2003 Award Committee at Leventha@cmhc.umdnj.edu.
