Elements of quality clinically focused postdoctoral training

This training experience is a planned and programmed sequence of training that aims to ensure preparation for advanced practice rather than one that is focused on providing supervised hours for licensure. Yes

This training experience ensures that postdocs receive at least two hours of individual supervision per week for the duration of the experience. Yes

This training experience is administered by a doctoral-level licensed psychologist who directs and organizes the training experience and its resources, is responsible for the selection of postdocs, and monitors and evaluates the goals and activities of the experience. Yes

This training experience has two or more doctoral-level licensed psychologists who have sufficient time to provide quality supervision and training.   Yes

This training experience includes regularly scheduled structured educational activities that help postdocs its defined goals. These activities may include didactics, seminars, case conferences, and/or research activities. Yes

The team at CCDBT has been providing fully adherent outpatient DBT for over 20 years. CCDBT invites you to apply for our fellowship with a starting salary of $65,000, based on Long Island with a satellite office in NYC.

A fellowship at CCDBT will enable trainees to confidently provide fully adherent Dialectical Behavior Therapy to adolescents and their families as well as adults throughout the lifespan. 

Specialized training in Trauma and Family Therapy is provided, as well as intensive supervision to increase competent implementation of treatment of a wide range of clinical disorders. 

Professional activities will include: 

  • Providing fully adherent individual and group Dialectical Behavior Therapy for adolescents, adults, & their families
  • Providing Cognitive therapies for depression & anxiety; providing skills training for parental management of childhood behavior disorder
  • Postdoctoral fellows will participate in program development and administration, monitoring client outcomes, and conducting research. Specific activities will be determined with the fellow to match his/her career goals.

 Applicants will be considered who: 

  • Complete a clinical psychology doctorate by the start date (start date is flexible to accommodate internship ending dates)
  • Demonstrate strong potential for a career in programmatic implementation of DBT
  • Have substantial experience in CBT and with adolescents and families. 
  • Experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy is highly preferable.
