Sundstrom Clinical Services is a vibrant and fun private practice located just outside of Portland, Oregon in the city of West Linn. We have a fabulous staff of 11 licensed psychologists, three licensed professional counselors, and four prescribers, as well as an active practicum/post-doctoral training program. We provide comprehensive therapy and assessment services to children and adults and frequently work with physicians, schools, churches and other agencies to provide integrated care. As an agency, we believe in providing high-quality, evidence-based interventions to clients while also creating a supportive, cohesive work environment. We are a collaborative, positive group that enjoys one another and the work we do.
Sundstrom Clinical Services has several subspecialty programs including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Gottman Couples therapy, treatment of eating disorders, comprehensive psychological evaluations, Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), autism treatment across the lifespan, child/adolescent therapy, and family therapy. We cover the range of diagnostic issues, ages birth-geriatrics, and practice from a variety of theoretical orientations including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), client-centered treatment, and DBT. Training experiences include 1:1 supervision, group supervision, clinical didactics, therapy, and assessment. We also work closely with community partners to share training opportunities. Postdoctoral training opportunities: 1:1 supervision, (2 hours per week), Group supervision (1 hour per week), Clinic-wide didactics (1.5 hours per week), Psychological testing with children and/or adults, Therapy with children and/or adults, Opportunities for leading group therapy.
Sample didactic topics and committees, rotating each year: Clinical case consultations; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion subcommittee; Visiting expert on gender identity Dr. Laura-Edwards Leeper; Deep dive into mental wellness versus mental illness in the current social climate: Review of Johnathan Haidt’s “The Anxious Generation” book; “Summer of fun” activities led by clinicians throughout each summer; Four week autism intervention series; Four week health and psychology series, including menopause, exercise, use of psilocybin in treatment, and deep dive on use of marijuana in today’s culture; Collaboration with Occupational Therapy Danni Verona; Collaboration with local public-school psychologists; Testing trainings in: Intellectual assessment, executive functioning assessment, autism assessment, Roberts-2, Rorschach, writing for community partners, giving feedback to children/teens; Annual ethics symposium; Brene Brown’s “Dare to Lead” curriculum; Clinical Spotlights on a variety of evidence-based interventions; Crisis and risk assessment; Working with insurance companies in a small business; Working with high-conflict divorce families, and more.
