About the Postdoctoral Residency
We’re looking for 2–3 Clinical or Counseling Psychology Postdoctoral Residents for the 2026–2027 training year. This is a full-time, W-2 position with benefits designed to support both your clinical development and personal growth.
Our postdocs build a caseload of ~25 clients per week, with ~15 additional hours dedicated to supervision, documentation, clinical training, and collaborative learning. You’ll receive strong foundational training and the flexibility to pursue your specific clinical passions as you refine your next-level therapist identity.

Program Highlights
- 2,000-hour postdoctoral residency—structured to meet licensure requirements in Illinois (and most other states for future mobility)

- Monthly Inspired Healing virtual trainings—recent topics include Breathwork, Gut-Brain Axis, Safe & Sound Protocol, Reiki, Brainspotting, Yoga Nidra, and more
- Quarterly team meetings focused on connection, collaboration, and practice growth
- Hybrid work structure—see clients both virtually and in person (minimum one in-office day per week)
- Flexible scheduling—required availability for either 1 evening + Saturday morning or 3 evenings per week(early morning start options available if that fits you better)
Compensation & Benefits
- Fluid compensation model based on a percentage of revenue, typically ranging from $4,000–$7,000/month, with an average of $5,400/month once your caseload is full
- 3-month guaranteed income while your caseload builds
- Full benefits package, including:Health insurance (BCBS PPO – practice covers 50% of premium)401(k) with a 3% nonelective employer contribution
- Fully paid life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability (short-term disability can be used for maternity leave)
- Optional dental and vision insurance
- Paid time off includes:1 week of PTO, 1 week of sick time, 1 week of training-specific PTO to allow for focused continuing education or immersive retreats

Since 2018, Balanced Awakening has trained 12 postdocs—many of whom continue to practice with us long after residency. We provide the clinical rigor you need for licensure, alongside a culture that supports flexibility, self-exploration, and true work-life balance.
