The Inova Sports Medicine Concussion Program's Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology is a two-year specialty-training program that provides advanced clinical, didactic and research training in neuropsychology. The program specifically focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and research of mild Traumatic Brain Injuries (mTBI). The fellowship program provides training consistent with a scientist-practitioner model and emphasizes advanced evidenced-based treatment. The model aims to prepare postdoctoral fellows to work in the specialty area of concussion. The program is housed in a multi-disciplinary outpatient orthopedic treatment facility in connection with primary care sports medicine physicians, orthopedists and physical therapists. The program also works closely with the Neurology/Neuroscience service line.

Postdoctoral Fellow duties are primarily comprised of brief neuropsychological evaluations of pediatric and adult patients presenting with a variety of mechanisms, along with extended batteries as needed. Participation in research or program development is expected through collaboration of ongoing projects. Fellows will also have the opportunity to see Sport Psychology cases.
