Elements of quality clinically focused postdoctoral training

Eugene Center for Anxiety and Stress (ECAS) will have 1 opening for post-doctoral fellows in its Psychological Assessment track for the 2024-2025 academic year. Our postdoctoral fellowship is designed for those seeking care in clinical practice settings and is guided by the scientist-practitioner model. Eugene Center for Anxiety and Stress is a group practice in Eugene, OR founded on two pillars: a commitment to (1) anti-oppression and culturally-inclusive practices; and (2) the scientist-practitioner model, utilizing evidence-based approaches to treatment and assessment with our clients that address both internal and societal factors in their distress. Our program provides postdoctoral residents with intentional and high-quality training that integrates how societal and cultural factors shape and impact mental health. 

ABOUT OUR POSTDOCTORAL RESIDENCY 

Postdocs in the Psychological Assessment Track are offered diverse clinical experiences in comprehensive psychological assessment, with our most common referral questions including psychological clarification, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Learning Disorders. The mission of our postdoctoral program is to train highly skilled, ethical psychologists who contribute to the field of psychology through clinical work and/or education. 

In addition, postdocs at ECAS have opportunities to gain additional training by being part of one of our training tracks. Note that these additional training opportunities are optional and not required: 

Hybrid Track: In this track, postdocs gain experience in providing both psychological assessment and therapy services (see our therapy track posting for more information about the training provided in that program) 

Gender Support Services (GSS) Track: In this track, postdocs receive additional training and focus on providing services for gender diverse individuals, including writing letters of support for gender affirming surgery. 

Child Track. In this track, postdocs gain experience providing assessment services to children and teens. It is possible for the child track to also be hybrid. 

We believe it is vital to develop a more diverse behavioral health workforce in Oregon to match the demographics of the state – thus, applicants from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. We are committed to providing trainees from diverse backgrounds with vital opportunities to be mentored and supervised by BIPOC providers and have BIPOC identified and/or bilingual supervisors on staff. 

Responsibilities:

Postdocs at ECAS are provided robust training opportunities at the same time that we reinforce a culture of work-life balance. Postdoc responsibilities in the assessment track include: 

8 full assessments each month 

2 hours of supervision each week (1 hour individual, 1 hour group) 

Assessment Consultation Meetings 

1 hour of ECAS Staff Meetings every other week (that includes Advanced Didactics and Multicultural Seminar) 

4 hours towards a professional development project each week 

Opportunity to co-supervise a clinical extern from the UO Ph.D. program
