The Empirically Supported Treatments (ESTs) in Private Practice, Adult Track fellowship position is a one-year fellowship position with an option for a second year extension. Fellows choose an area of specialty within ESTs- Emotion Dysregulation, Exposure-based Treatments, or Resilience & Well-being. The goal of all tracks and concentrations is to solidify training in the building blocks of third wave CBT treatments, develop further specialty in one or more population or intervention areas (your concentration), and learn ways to mindfully implement ESTs to the private practice model.
The Adult fellowship track works predominantly with adults, though fellows are likely to see a few older adolescents (17+) in areas of expertise. Depending on fellow experience and preference, areas of training include individual and group therapy (required), as well as couples, family, or parenting work (optional).
This fellowship also allows substantial opportunity to become involved in various areas of the business of psychology- from marketing your services, building referral and consultation networks, creating supervision opportunities, and developing continuing education or e-learning frameworks for your expertise. While an interest in the private practice model is required, a plan to enter private practice after fellowship is not. The clinical, professional, and business skills learned in the fellowship adapt well to careers in private practice, academic medicine, or consultative settings.
