Central Iowa Psychological Services
Ames, Iowa

Starts on

This program has chosen to follow the APPIC Postdoctoral Selection Guidlines.

Central Iowa Psychological Services is currently accepting applications for a post-doctoral fellowship opportunity. The fellowship will focus predominantly on assessment and psychotherapy, though many opportunities will be available for ongoing training in organizational consulting as well.

Much of the fellowship will focus on working with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. This fellowship opportunity will be available at either our Ames or our West Des Moines office locations. The fellowship will provide further skill development in psychological assessment, individual therapy, opportunities for presentations in the community, and consultation with school systems, medical personnel, assisted living facilities, and workplaces. Consultation services are focused on increasing well-being in the organization.

Psychological assessment opportunities include conducting evaluations of ADHD, Learning Disorders, autism-spectrum conditions, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Opportunities will be provided for conducting assessments for agencies, schools, and for individuals in a private practice setting and for developing treatment plans in collaboration with a wide variety of collateral contacts, including schools and community resources.

Psychotherapy training will be offered for individual and/or family therapy with children, adolescents, and/or adults. Parent-child interaction therapy training is also available through this fellowship.

Central Iowa Psychological Services employs licensed psychologists, play therapists, licensed independent social workers, couples and family therapists, licensed mental health counselors, certified alcohol and drug counselors, and psychiatric nurse practitioners.

We provide a wide variety of clinical services through an outpatient setting, in-person and virtually. We also provide outpatient services directly through local hospitals and medical groups. There are ample opportunities for multidisciplinary consultation and learning about collaboration of mental health and medical services.

The Central Iowa Psychological Services Fellowship will pay $38,000 with 2 weeks of Paid Time Off (PTO) time (vacation and sick leave). Also provided are: Workman’s compensation, professional liability insurance, unemployment coverage, paid holidays, and a stipend toward our group health insurance premium and dental/vision insurance premium. CIPS also has a 401K plan available to all employees to contribute to, at their discretion. CIPS will also pay for or provide any and all study materials for the EPPP Licensing Exam as part of the position benefits.

It is anticipated that the post-doc could begin anytime after the Uniform Notification Date of February 2, 2022, with the expectation that most applicants would begin their Fellowship in mid to late summer, 2022. However, the timeline for starting this fellowship is negotiable depending on the demands of the pre-doctoral internship.
