We have openings for four postdoctoral fellows (known as Psychology Associates in the District of Columbia) for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Program Overview
Our postdoctoral fellowship is designed to foster the growth of emerging psychologists from post-internship to professional practice, preparing them for dynamic careers in university counseling centers. Fellows are considered integral members of the CAPS staff and participate fully in the center’s services, outreach, and training activities.
Additional opportunities include:
- Program development and outreach initiatives
- Co-leading process or skills groups
- Supervising predoctoral externs
- Teaching Georgetown undergraduates as an Englehard Health Professional Fellow
Training Philosophy and Center Culture
The culture of CAPS is highly relational, collaborative, and grounded in mutual respect and support. We place strong value on self-reflection, multicultural awareness, and professional authenticity, and we aim to create an environment where trainees can bring their full selves to their clinical and professional development.
Our training program emphasizes growth through connection—with clients, supervisors, peers, and the broader campus community. We are deeply committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive training environment, where different identities, perspectives, and lived experiences are welcomed and explored as integral to ongoing learning.
We also believe that a fulfilling career in mental health must be a sustainable one. Fellows benefit from a culture that promotes work–life balance, collegiality, and self-care—values that extend to how we support our trainees. Our goal is not only to help fellows deepen their clinical skills, but also to help them cultivate a professional identity that is both purposeful and enduring.
Successful applicants are those who are passionate about clinical work, curious about themselves and others, open to feedback, and eager to continue growing both personally and professionally.
Fellowship Tracks
CAPS offers three specialized training tracks, each providing a shared foundation in college mental health and supervision, while offering unique settings and focus areas:
