This training experience is a planned and programmed sequence of training that aims to ensure preparation for advanced practice rather than one that is focused on providing supervised hours for licensure. Yes

The Clinical Psychology Residency program has emphasis areas in Child and Adult. The program has one Adult/Child position with an emphasis in Psycho-Oncology (1 position) located at the Stephenson Cancer Center and Children's Hospital. The Child emphasis areas include Pediatric Psychology (2 positions) located at Oklahoma Children's Hospital, and Clinical Child (1 position), located at the Child Study Center.

Accreditation Status

The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences currently has three Psychology training programs: Internship in Clinical Psychology, Postdoctoral Residency in Clinical Psychology, and a Postdoctoral Residency in Clinical Neuropsychology. We are excited to announce that all three programs have obtained full accreditation!

Health insurance is available for all positions. Residents receive 19 days of combined vacation and academic leave, 6 holidays, and receive 14 days of sick leave.
Research opportunities
Our Residency program is designed to provide training in clinical and research skills. Residency activities include both general and specific elements. Residents have the opportunity to choose clinical and research activities to fit with their goals and interests through their proposed training plan, which each Resident develops in their first month of Residency. Additionally, Residents work closely with one or more faculty members to develop and execute at least one research project or scholarly project of publishable quality per year. It is expected that a portion of a Resident's time and effort will be devoted to research. Our Residents spend approximately 40 hours per week in Residency activities including didactics, research and clinical activities.
Additional Comments
The Resident in the Pediatric Psychology emphasis area develops advanced skills in therapy, assessment, and consultation. Clinical training opportunities are available in a variety of clinics and inpatient services including hematology/oncology, pediatric transplant, and primary care.
Application Instructions
Applicants must have completed all requirements of an APA/CPA-approved doctoral program in psychology and a one-year APA/CPA approved internship. Applications need to be submitted via APA-CAS application portal. Required applications materials can be found on the program website. The Program will also accept applications from individuals who have completed all requirements of a university based APA/CPA-approved program of postdoctoral education for retraining in Clinical or Counseling Psychology. The program must conform to the guidelines established by the APA Council of Representatives.
