Northwell Health, Zucker Hillside Hospital Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health:

Early Treatment Program/Behavioral Health College Partnership

Adult Psychology Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program

The Northwell Health’s Zucker Hillside Hospital is located in Glen Oaks, New York and rests upon a 32-acre park-like campus. It is the psychiatric division of the Northwell Health System. The Early Treatment Program and the Behavioral Health College Partnership are adult outpatient centers within the Department of Psychiatry.

Early Treatment Program (ETP): Early Treatment Program is a state funded clinical and research program dedicated to youth ages 15-35 with early stage psychotic illness. The ETP works in collaboration with the Psychiatry Research Department, which oversees several NIMH-funded research programs that focus on serious neuropsychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia (including early-onset schizophrenia and the prodrome), obsessive-compulsive disorder, and bipolar disorder, among others. Early Treatment Program responsibilities include a caseload of individual/family therapy cases as well as leading a recovery group and co-leading a monthly family support group. The ETP fellow will also conduct weekly intake assessments. There are opportunities for completing structured assessments as well as cognitive remediation sessions with individuals enrolled in ETP. Opportunities for the Fellow to provide supervision to other ETP trainees may be available.

Behavioral Health College Partnership (BHCP): The Behavioral Health College Partnership (BHCP) is a unique community service program that works closely with over 90 affiliated colleges and universities and their student counseling centers to address behavioral health issues impacting undergraduate and graduate students. BHCP collaborates to provide state-of-the-art evaluation and evidence-based treatment for psychiatric crisis and the aftermath, as well as diverse challenges ranging from adjustment problems to major disorders emerging during the transition to college life. The Behavioral Health College Partnership fellowship may provide experience with the college population in both the outpatient and inpatient settings. BHCP experienced supervisors will provide specialized training and supervision in the assessment and treatment of college students within a cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral framework. Fellow responsibilities will include intake assessment, individual and group outpatient therapy, and crisis intervention. Fellows will receive intensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and will be on a Dialectical Behavior Therapy Team.

ETP/BHCP Fellowship: The ETP/BHCP Fellow will be a member of a large, multidisciplinary team and participate in weekly clinical meetings and didactics. This Fellow will have the opportunity to participate in weekly Grand Rounds at Zucker Hillside Hospital. Fellow responsibilities and supervision will fulfill criteria for the postdoctoral year of experience necessary for NYS Psychology licensure.

Candidates of the 2024-2025 ETP/BHCP post-doctoral fellowship must have completed course study and dissertation defense in an APA-accredited PhD or PsyD doctoral program in clinical psychology, completed an APA-accredited Psychology Internship Program, and have experience in evidence-based treatment. Candidates must be eligible for the NYS Limited Permit in Psychology. Strong CBT skills, proficiency conducting SCID assessments, and prior clinical experience and commitment to working with individuals within the populations served by the ETP and BHCP is advantageous.
