There is 1 available postdoctoral fellow position with a generalist focus. FIU's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is housed on two campuses: one on the bay (BBC), the other in southwest Miami (MMC). FIU is a large, urban University with approximately 56,000 students. The fellow has the opportunity to provide individual and group therapy as well as crisis intervention services. Additional opportunities include consultation, psychological assessment, workshops, and other outreach programming. CAPS offers time-limited, focused psychotherapy with individualized treatment plans reflecting identity and developmental needs of registered FIU students.
CAPS maintains a strong commitment to training. The postdoctoral fellowship is designed to reflect APPIC guidelines. Our supervision approach is developmental and competency-based. Goals are individualized to integrate the fellow's strengths and interests with CAPS' needs. CAPS emphasizes treatment within the matrix of identity differences. The full-time professional staff is comprised of psychologists from varied backgrounds who maintain a wide spectrum of theoretical and psychotherapeutic approaches. The postdoctoral fellow must have completed a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program. By the start of the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, trainees must have completed all graduate program requirements, including an internship meeting APPIC standards. Only complete applications received by time of review are considered for interview. Application review will be begin on December 5th, 2025. If after the CHD, applications will be reviewed as they are received until April 17th, 2026. Interviews will be held virtually between January 26th, 2026 to January 30th, 2026. If after the CHD, interviews will be scheduled based on program and applicant availability.
