The Section on Pediatric Psychology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is offering 3 full-time fellowship positions for the 2026-2027 academic year. The position starts on September 1st, 2026. Based on the fellow's clinical, teaching, and research goals, the fellow may extend to a 2-year position, pending, satisfactory performance to allow for greater breadth and depth of experience. A fellow continuing into the second year will have the opportunity to take a lead role in graduate-level psychology trainees.
- 2 positions have a specific focus on pediatric psychology and are based at the Little Rock, AR campus.
- 1 position is centered on clinical child psychology (autism evaluations, behavioral health treatment, and exposure to pediatric neuropsychology), is situated in Springdale, AR, just three hours north of Little Rock. It is also conveniently located only 15 minutes away from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR, a beautiful and lively college campus and home to the Razorbacks.
- Stipend: $54,693 with a $2,500 e-fund for professional expenses. Salary based on APPIC average.
- Benefits: Fellows have access to the UAMS health insurance plan, which covers vision and dental, short and long-term disability, and retirement planning. Additionally, UAMS provides 11 paid holidays, and fellows accumulate 22 vacation days and 10 sick days.
Our training program provides a diverse range of in-person and virtual clinical and educational opportunities, with a focus on promoting independent practice in pediatric psychology. Available opportunities includes the assessment and treatment of individuals coping with various medical and developmental disorders, interdisciplinary and collaborative care, telehealth, and advocacy- all with a commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Fellows will be able to participate in all interdisciplinary LEND training activities as well.
Training and Workload
Fellows are considered to be salaried, exempt employees so may work more than 40 hours in the week in order to complete clinical care and documentation however on average work 40 hours. Fellows spend approximately 75% time in direct face-to-face psychological services and 25% in supervision, professional development, didactic and other related activities. Supervision and Areas of training include:
- Diagnostic interviews, consultation, and brief interventions within outpatient medical subspecialty clinics;
- Psychoeducational, developmental, neuropsychological, and behavioral assessment; outpatient psychotherapy; and inpatient hospital consultation-liaison.
- Interprofessional developmental and collaboration.
- Program development with possibilities for to work with faculty on Q/I and research projects.
- Time allocated for additional conferences and trainings.
Support preparing for the EPPP. Fellows participate in a series of didactic and training activities including pediatric and psychosocial grand rounds, developmental and behavioral lectures, interdisciplinary journal clubs, monthly peer review/case conferences and psychology presentations. Numerous additional presentations are also available in various specialty areas. Fellows spend 2-6 hours per week in direct learning activities.

2 Pediatric Psychology Fellowship Positions- Little Rock, Arkansas
The Section of Pediatric Psychology is offering two post-doctoral fellowship positions. This location is home to 11 pediatric psychologists.
Arkansas Children's Hospital (ACH):
- Approximately 60% of the fellow’s time will be dedicated to various outpatient medical clinics, including Cardiology, CPAP Adherence, GI, High-Risk Newborn, Hearing Impairment, Weight Management, Nephrology, and Sleep clinics.
- Coverage of the Inpatient Consultation/Liaison Service for all of ACH.
- Opportunities for experiences in developmental disabilities, medical crisis and loss, and research. Emphasis on patient-family centered care, with involvement in patient and family-led initiatives and a comprehensive Family Engagement Center.
J.L. Dennis Developmental Center (DDC):
- The remaining 20% of the fellow’s time will be dedicated to the DDC, an outpatient interdisciplinary evaluation and treatment center.
- Involvement in psychoeducational assessment, autism spectrum disorders, behavioral assessment, multidisciplinary team assessment, and psychotherapy.
- Involvement in program development and quality improvement research.
1 Clinical Child Psychology Fellowship Position- Springdale, Arkansas
The Section of Pediatric Psychology is offering one fellowship position. This center is staffed by 6 psychologists, including two pediatric psychologists and three pediatric neuropsychologists.
Schmieding Developmental Center (SDC):
- 100% of the fellow’s clinical time will be at SDC, an outpatient interdisciplinary evaluation and treatment center.
- Focus on comprehensive psychodiagnostic interdisciplinary team assessments aimed at the developmental, social, and behavioral requirements of children and adolescents with suspected autism, developmental delays, and related conditions.
- Provide evidence-based behavioral treatment intervention for various externalizing and internalizing behaviors observed in children and youth.
- Based on the fellow's interest, exposure to pediatric neuropsychology assessments of children with complex medical conditions can be included. The fellow will have an opportunity to complete comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations under the supervision of a pediatric neuropsychologist. Please note that this fellowship does not fulfill the standard 2-year neuropsychology fellowship requirements for board certification in neuropsychology.
- Opportunity to participate in hierarchical supervision of graduate-level psychology practicum student training.
- Involvement in program development and quality improvement research.
- Opportunities to support interdisciplinary clinics on the Little Rock campus via telehealth sessions and participate in UAMS and AC virtual didactics and trainings.

- The current 12-month stipend is $54,693. Typical work hours are approximately 40 hours/week with 80% time in clinical service and related activities.
