INFORMAL PROBLEM RESOLUTION PROCESSThe
APPIC Board is pleased to offer an informal problem resolution process. If your
site is experiencing a conflict that your staff or trainees are having difficulty
resolving, APPIC can provide you a consultant to work with you to resolve the
problems encountered. For instance if a staff or a trainee at your site is unhappy
with some aspect of training, event, or staff member at your site, you may wish
to consider contacting APPIC's Informal Problem Resolution consultant. This problem
resolution process is also available to individuals applying to programs who have
concerns about a site to which they applied or if staff have concerns about an
applicant. APPIC members, subscribers and trainees have found this process
to be an effective and efficient mechanism for handling the majority of problems
and conflicts that arise regarding various aspects of internship and postdoctoral
training and applicants to those sites. If you would like to consult about a conflict
at your site, contact Dr. Steve McCutcheon, Chair, APPIC Board of Directors, at
Stephen.McCutcheon@va.gov. Dr.
McCutcheon will forward inquiries and concerns to a consultant. If you do
not have a conflict at your site but would like to consult about an issue or concern,
have a suggestion for APPIC, or have a specific concern about the APPIC Website,
the AAPI, the Directory, Clearinghouse, APPIC Conference, APPIC E-Mail lists or
the APPIC Match, go to: http://www.appic.org/contact/index.html
for the contact person. Unfortunately there are times when conflicts and
concerns result in the need to take formal action. Information about APPIC's Formal
Complaint Procedures are located on the APPIC website. You can also discuss
the Formal Complaint process by contacting Dr. Mark Vogel, Chair of APPIC's Standards
and Review Committee at vogel1@msu.edu. If
you have questions about any of the procedures described above, contact Dr. Stephen
McCutcheon at: Stephen.McCutcheon@va.gov.
