FAQ for Internship Applicants Back

Question 1. How do applicants register for the Match?
Registration for the APPIC Match is handled by National Matching Services Inc.
(NMS), and applicant registration materials may be downloaded and printed directly from
the NMS
web site beginning in early August of each year.
To register for the Match, you must send one copy of the Applicant Agreement, along with the appropriate registration fee, to NMS. You should also review the information available on the NMS web site, including the Schedule of Dates, APPIC Match Policies, and other information describing the operation of the Match.
The recommended registration date for applicants is December 1. However, it is generally wise to register much earlier so that you receive your Applicant Code Number in time to include it on your APPIC Application for Psychology Internships (AAPI), as many sites have application deadlines in November. Please note that if you don't receive your Applicant Code Number in time to include it on your AAPI, it's not a problem -- there will be plenty of opportunities later in the process to provide your Applicant Code Number to internship sites.
Please remember that the Match registration fee is NON-REFUNDABLE and is not transferable to future Matches. Thus, if you aren't yet sure that you will be participating in the Match (e.g., you may not meet departmental requirements in time to participate), it may be advisable to delay your registration until you are clear that you will be participating. The Match fee covers all aspects of the Match, regardless of the number of sites to which you apply. An additional fee is charged by APPIC for use of the APPIC Directory Online (however, you may begin using the Directory Online at any time, even prior to Match registration, as no access codes or passwords are required to use it).
Please note that you are NOT registered until you have returned your completed application materials with the required fee and have received your Applicant Code Number from NMS.
