Question 2. Why did APPIC change to this new system?
For many years, APPIC members have wanted to improve the operation
of the internship selection process and the telephone-based Uniform
Notification Day (UND) system. Similarly, many graduate students
over the years have called upon APPIC to explore alternatives
to this system. Numerous articles have documented the difficulties
that students experienced under the previous selection process,
particularly the high level of stress and anguish that occurred
on UND.
