Program Description
Program Description:
The LSCDVAMC offers one year, full-time APA accredited Postdoctoral Residencies in Clinical Psychology in six separate emphasis areas: (1) Geropsychology (geriatric health psychology emphasis). (2) Psychosocial Rehabilitation of the Seriously Mentally Ill (Recovery Model emphasis). (3)Primary Care/Mental Health Integration. (4) PTSD. (5) Consultation to Specialty Medical Clinics. (6) Substance Abuse. The Clinical Psychology Residencies follow a practitioner-scholar training model, providing training for advanced competence in these areas. The Fellowships require completion of a scholarly project, for which fellows are given 8 hours/week time. We also have a two-year Postdoctoral Residency in Clinical Neuropsychology, NOT APA ACCREDITED, which follows a scientist-practitioner training model. However, NO new CN position is offered in 2011-2012 (the second year of the two-year sequence). Applicants must be graduates of an APA accredited program in clinical or counseling psychology and have successfully completed an APA accredited internship. The successful candidates will have to pass a physical exam, background security check, and possible random drug screen (all routine) prior to final appointment. An oath of office is required.
