| Program Description |
Program Description:
The Medical Psychology Fellowship Program at Mayo Clinic Rochester, is designed for recent graduates of an APA-Accredited Clinical or Counseling Psychology Doctoral Program and an APA-Accredited Predoctoral Psychology Internship who wish to acquire specialty training in one of three specialty practice programs offered in this fellowship: Clinical Child Psychology, Clinical Health Psychology, or Clinical Neuropsychology. You will be admitted to one of these 2-year APA-Accredited postdoctoral programs.
The fellowship prepares doctoral-level psychologists for a career in an academic medical center by offering them clinical training, integrated with teaching opportunities and research in the scientist-practitioner tradition of training in psychology. Clinical service areas and research training opportunities are available to you to ensure you are provided an integrated experience that is relevant to your needs and career goals.
Clinical Child Psychology: clinical training and research in pediatric psychology (chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, pain, POTS, chronic illness and elimination disorders), clinical child psychology (anxiety disorders, eating disorders, mood disorders, and externalizing disorders) and pediatric neuropsychology in outpatient and inpatient treatment settings.
Clinical Health Psychology: Major clinical health psychology rotations include: Blood and Marrow Transplantation, Behavioral Medicine Program, Psycho-Oncology Service, Pain Rehabilitation Center, Primary Care Psychology, and Obesity Program.
Clinical Neuropsychology: Clinical training in diagnostic neuropsychology evaluations of a wide range of neurological, medical, and psychiatric conditions; inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation of patients with epilepsy, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, dementia, stroke and traumatic brain injury. Member of APPCN. |
