| Program Description |
Program Description:
Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is one of the largest childrens hospitals in the country with a reputation for excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research. Fellowships are available on a one- and two-year training cycle across several sub-specialties and offer a combination of training opportunities across research and clinical care. An apprenticeship model focused on active mentoring, career development, professional role identity, and development of skills in clinical research and care that ensures success as a scientist-practitioner, is a hallmark of the training program.
Postdoctoral training focus areas include:
1) Behavioral Medicine
a. Nutrition and Health (Scott Powers, PhD, ABPP)
b. Pain Management (Susmita Kashikar-Zuck, PhD)
c. Adherence (Dennis Drotar, PhD)
d. Risk and Prevention (Robert Ammerman, PhD)
2) Neuropsychology (Marsha Nortz, PhD, ABPP)
3) Child Clinical/ADHD (Jeff Epstein, PhD)
4) Developmental Disabilities (Patricia Eiler-Sims, PhD)
5) Autism (Rena Sorensen-Burnworth, PhD)
Training is specific to each focus area but is expected to take place in clinical care (not less than 25%), research, teaching, administration, professional development, and community activities. Each program is developed within a focus area such that the fellow will be eligible for licensure at the end of the fellowship. For all areas applicants must have a doctoral degree from an APA approved program, completed an APA approved internship, and defended their dissertation prior to beginning the fellowship.
The majority of the positions are supported by NIH research grants, and some are supported by an NIH/NIDDK Postdoctoral Training Grant in Child Behavior and Nutrition (Program Director: Scott W. Powers, PhD).
