Program Description:
The Institute of Living offers Postdoctoral residency positions in the following areas of emphasis:(1) Clinical Neuropsychology (available for 2012), (2)Adult Inpatient Psychiatry, (3) Schizophrenia Rehabilitation/ Persistent Mental Illness, (4) Anxiety Disorders (available 2012), (5) Child and Adolescent school-based treatment and assessment and outpatient therapy, (6) Health Psychology/ Behavioral Medicine (2012), (7) Child/Adolescent inpatient psychiatry, (8) Pediatric Consultation/Liaison . We offer a 2-year postdoctoral program in clinical neuropsychology. The first year is primarily spent in a psychiatric setting (Institute of Living), whereas the second year is primarily in a general medical/rehabilitative setting. Our program complies with APA Division 40, INS, and Houston Conference guidelines.
In addition, we have residency positions in the following areas: one position in our Schizophrenia Rehabilitation Program/persistent mental illness, using cognitive rehabilitation models and functional MRI, and inpatient treatment; one position in Adult Inpatient Psychiatry providing psychodynamically-informed brief individual, group, and family therapy and case-management; two positions in our behavioral/exposure-based Anxiety Disorders Clinic; one position in combined school-based individual and group therapies, assessment of children and adolescents, and in outpatient treatment of urban children and adolescents. Health Psychology/Behavioral Medicine position includes inpatient consultation, cognitive assessment, and outpatient psychotherapy. Child/adolescent inpatient psychiatry involves advanced training in brief acute individual, group, and family therapies. Pediatric Clinical Psychology providing consultation/liaison services to Connecticut Children's Medical Center. The department is led by senior Psychologists who adhere to a scholar-practitioner model that actively integrates contemporary psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral models. |
