An interview with a Training Director at one of the 3 Air Force internship sites is required;phone interviews with all 3 are encouraged. On-site or phone interviews will be arranged for any interested applicant. Applicants should arrange their T.Director interview early in the application process. Program Description:
Emphasis upon interventions and assessments that are best supported by empirical literature. Extensive experience in behavioral and cognitive behavioral strategies. State-of-the-art programs in health psychology, primary care consultation and practice, and other areas. Training in crisis intervention/triage in outpatient setting, clinical health psychology, community/military psychology, and primary care consultation are required. Military/Deployment Psychology focus:Health Promotion, Resiliency, Prolonged Exposure & Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD. Opportunities for neuropsych screening & assessment, (of Basic Military Trainees); advanced health psychology; advanced outpatient psychology; small clinic administration and practice; aviation psychology; operational psychology; clinical investigations; or a rotation tailored to the intern's interests and needs. In addition to traditional assessment, therapy, etc, interns learn to serve as a psychological consultant to organizational leadership regarding questions of prevention and outreach in a community psychology context. |
