| Program Description |
Program Description:
These one- or two-year Fellowships associated with the Department of Psychology at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia are designed for individuals who have completed all doctoral degree requirements and who aspire to academic careers and leadership positions in pediatric medical settings or university departments supporting Ph.D. training programs. Diverse pediatric populations, including infants, preschoolers, school age, and adolescent cohorts presenting with developmental disorders, behavior problems, and/or chronic illness/disability receive family-centered services within an interdisciplinary context. Opportunities exist to acquire or refine skills pertaining to Pediatric Psychology, Pediatric Neuropsychology, Early Childhood, and Child Clinical, Community, School Psychology. Training occurs in both in- and outpatient clinical settings. Training and supervision is provided in vivo, in office, and during small and large group rounds. Video-mediated training facilities are available. Research opportunities are abundant. We offer the opportunity for fellows to be involved in federally funded research programs within various medical populations including: oncology, cardio-thoracic transplant, injury prevention, cranio-facial disorders, and pain. Additional opportunities include community-based ADHD interventions and violence prevention in urban schools. Specific areas of focus vary each year and available positions are posted on our website by December. Didactic seminars, conferences, and rounds are frequent and address multiple topics and methodologies. Fellows have direct access to all faculty and staff and work closely with one or two mentors who ensure programmatic integrity and continuity. Fellows receive instrumental support when searching for career-enhancing positions. |
