Program Description
Program Description:
The Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in Neuropsychology at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior aims to prepare clinician-scientists for careers in academic research and clinical applications within the specialty area of neuropsychology. The program offers training in a series of six tracks with clinician/educator and academic/research emphases, including: 1) General Track - 1 opening; 2) Child Track - 1 opening; 3) Cognitive Neuropsychology of Dementia Track - 1 opening; 4) HIV/AIDS Research Track - 1-2 openings. All Fellows, regardless of track, receive broad training and experience in both research and practice. All residents share an extensive curriculum of didactic and experiential offerings, and training programs are individually tailored to achieve specific goals considering the resident's prior competencies and experiences.

Patient populations span all age groups, and both clinical applications and research projects target a diversity of neurologic, psychiatric, and general medical disorders, with integration across diverse departments and centers including: Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences, Neurology, Neurosurgery, the Brain Injury Research Center, and Ahmanson-Lovelace Brain Mapping Center at UCLA. Additional offerings are made possible through strong collaborations with centers of excellence off-campus, including The Help Group (with a focus on neurodevelopmental disabilities), the Veterans Administration Greater Los Angeles Health Care System (VAGLAS, with a focus on HIV/AIDS and major mental illness), and The University Neuropsychology Group in Pasadena.
