| Program Description |
Program Description:
The focus of the Postdoctoral Fellowship training program at Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) is to provide advanced in-depth training in child/pediatric psychology and prepare individuals for careers in medical settings. The CHOC Fellowship offers specialized training in child clinical psychology applied in a general pediatric tertiary care setting. Postdoctoral Fellows are supervised by Psychology faculty who have expertise in pediatric and child clinical psychology, as well as specialized interests in neuropsychology, pain management, disruptive behavior disorders, infant development, and sports psychology. The Program provides experience with consultation/liaison to sub-specialty pediatric units, neuropsychological assessment, and work in our outpatient Pediatric Psychology Clinic. One position is with our Consultation and Liaison Program and one with the Oncology Service. The training program is housed within the Department of Pediatric Psychology which provides comprehensive psychological services throughout the Children's Hospital. Postdoctoral Fellows share some training experiences and seminars with interns in an APA accredited psychology internship as well sharing some educational opportunities with medical residents. Further, fellows have the opportunity to evaluate/consult/treat a wide variety of families from multicultural backgrounds. Fellows participate in research activities and complete a clinical/research project during their fellowship. Fellows also have the opportunity to provide supervision to practicum students. |
