| Program Description |
Program Description:
The Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Pediatric Psychology (seeking APA accreditation as a Clinical Child Psychology Post-Doctoral Fellowship) at Madigan Army Medical Center is an intensive two-year training program in the Department of Psychology with an emphasis upon child development and behavioral medicine. The program begins in October. One position is open to licensed military active-duty psychologists and one position is open to civilian applicants. The primary goal of the fellowship program is to provide advanced training in pediatric psychology. Major areas of focus are normal child development, developmental pediatrics, behavioral medicine interventions, dysmorphology, developmental and intellectual assessment, childhood psychopathology, pediatric consultation/liaison services, and military related adjustment. During the 2 years the fellows provide services in various settings within the medical center. These areas include the developmental pediatrics clinic, high-risk newborn follow-up clinic, pediatric ward, well baby clinic, dysmorphology clinic, and pediatric subspecialty clinics (e.g., pediatric neurology, pediatric oncology/hematology, pediatric endocrinology). Additionally, fellows are expected to develop one area of sub-specialization and produce a publishable professional project. The fellowship program is geared toward training fellows who can deliver high quality clinical services and who can train and supervise interns and other pediatric psychologists. Finally, fellows have the advantage of cross training in weekly clinics with pediatric fellows from the Developmental and Behavioral Pediatric Fellowship at Madigan Army Medical Center, as well as residents from the Pediatric Residency. |
