About the APPIC Directory
The APPIC Directory lists internship and post-doctoral programs
in the United States and Canada that are current members of APPIC.
INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS: Pre-doctoral internship programs that are
accredited by the American Psychological Association or the Canadian
Psychological Association are automatically recognized as meeting
APPIC doctoral
membership criteria. All other programs must demonstrate that
they meet the criteria in order to be accepted for membership,
and are reviewed for adherence to the criteria every three years.
POST-DOCTORAL PROGRAMS: Post-doctoral training programs that
are accredited by the American Psychological Association are automatically
recognized as meeting APPIC postdoctoral
membership criteria. All other programs must demonstrate that
they meet the criteria in order to be accepted for membership,
and are reviewed for adherence to the criteria every three years.
CONSORTIA: A consortium is comprised of multiple (more than one)
independent agencies that have joined together to offer a well-rounded,
unified psychology training program. In addition to meeting the
APPIC doctoral or post-doctoral membership criteria, consortia
programs must also meet the criteria
for consortia membership.
DIRECTORY INCLUSION CRITERIA
1. In order to be included in the APPIC Directory, membership
dues must be paid by April 1st of each year. Inclusion in the
print Directory requires the Training Director to update the program
and user information no later the APPIC update deadline (usually
late Spring) of each year. Programs that have not paid their membership
dues and/or updated their Directory information by the deadline
will not be included in the printed Directory for that year and
will not be accessible in the Directory OnLine. Programs that
are removed from the Directory OnLine will be reinstated once
membership dues have been paid and the program's Directory information
has been updated.
2. Certain items of information are critical to applicants and/or
are required by APPIC policies. These items are designated as
"required fields" in the Directory update process. A
program's Directory information cannot be submitted for editorial
approval without entries in each of these required fields.
3. A program's Training Director may make changes to its Directory
OnLine listing at any time. Each Training Director is responsible
for ensuring that the program's information listed in the APPIC
Directory is accurate and up-to-date. APPIC takes no responsibility
for inaccurate or outdated information or for information that
has been incorrectly entered by the program.
4. Each APPIC member is entitled to one listing in the Directory.
Consortia or collaborative programs and single programs with separate
tracks must designate a single Training Director and chief psychologist
for their single Directory listing.
